Amongst all of these formats, the ipod videos are many Lamber students’ favorite. They can be conveniently loaded into an ipod and listened to while driving, exercising, doing housework, etc. Students have a lot of good things to say about the quality of the lectures. The general consensus is that the lectures are concise yet at the same time explain all the key concepts in sufficient detail to adequately prepare the student for the exam. Please note that the ipod courses all come with the textbook for the particular exam section so that you won’t need to buy it separately. Another feature that comes with the ipod courses is the “Ask the Expert” service which enables students to email questions to the Lambers support team to be answered.
The only negative feedback on the Lambers’ materials I have seen is from a student complaining about the lecturing style of the lecturer for the FAR section. Here is what he had to say:
“Mr. Grubbs repeats sooo much that drives me nuts. He repeats when he is thinking and the things he repeats is not important… Also Grubbs don’t teach or explain much and jumps directly into multiple choices and while working on the problems, he will start refering to the concepts needed to solve that problem. Therefore, the teaching and learning is NOT systematic AND you can’t listen to the video lectures over and over to learn the key concepts. The 50 hours FAR videos are slow and full of junk and incoherent mumblings.”
Since I have not used Lambers myself, I cannot comment on the accuracy of this student’s opinion.
